In short
- Your client book is your business record, even when you manage it through Gloa.
- Use client information only for the purpose it was collected for or another purpose the law permits.
- Limit access, and destroy or anonymize information when its purpose is fulfilled unless another law requires retention.
| Record owner | Your business |
|---|---|
| Card details | Not in your client record |
| Other businesses | Not in your client record |
The Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25, makes each business responsible for the personal information in its hands. Your client book is your business record, even when you manage it through Gloa.
What a client record can contain
- The client's name, email address, phone number and profile photo where available.
- Appointments with your business, including services, dates, attendance and changes.
- Messages with your business, loyalty activity, and notes or tags your business adds.
- Payment records connected to services your business provided. A client's card details and appointments with other businesses are not part of your client record.
What you may do with it
Use information for the purpose it was collected for: carrying out appointments, keeping necessary business records, answering the client, or another purpose the law permits. A materially different purpose calls for a new, valid consent unless the law provides an exception.
