FEES

Business charges

The following list covers the charges paid by your business.

20% — New client introduced through the marketplace (Paid by the salon, once per client)
This commission applies only to the first appointment of a client introduced through the Gloa marketplace who was not already in your client records. It is calculated on services only, never on tips. No commission applies to that client’s later appointments.
At cost — Card processing (Paid by the salon)
Stripe processes card payments at its published rate, currently about 2.9% + 30¢ for a Canadian card. Gloa adds no margin and receives no share of this fee. It is not passed on to the client as a surcharge.
$0 — Everything else
No setup fee. No fee per team member. No fee for returning clients. No additional Gloa fee on a no-show charge. No fee to export your data.

NO HIDDEN FEES

What Gloa never charges

  • No commission applies to imported clients whose contact details match your records. Large client-list imports submitted after bookings begin may require review.
  • No commission applies when a client books through your link, QR code or website, including a new client.
  • No commission applies to returning clients. The marketplace commission applies once per eligible client.
  • Gloa takes no commission on tips. Card-processing fees still apply.
  • No new commission applies to a no-show or late cancellation fee. For an eligible prepaid first visit, the one-time marketplace commission is recalculated on the amount you retain.
  • No fee applies for individual team members.
  • No contract, setup fee or data export fee applies.
  • No charge applies without prior disclosure.

PAYOUTS

Your prices and your revenue

Gloa does not hold a balance on your behalf. The processor routes card payments to your account according to your payout schedule.

The price of the service
You retain the service price, less applicable card processing and any eligible one-time marketplace commission. No Gloa commission applies to existing clients or to appointments after the first eligible marketplace introduction.
Deposits
Deposits apply to the appointment and remain yours. If you require a deposit, Gloa sets a minimum of 30% of the client’s total. You may require more or waive the deposit for a client.
No-show and late cancellation fees
These fees remain yours under the terms accepted by the client at booking. Later policy changes do not affect an existing appointment. For an eligible prepaid first visit introduced through the marketplace, the one-time commission is recalculated on the amount you retain. It decreases with that amount and is fully returned if you retain nothing.
Tips
Tips are assigned to the professional who earned them. Gloa charges no commission on tips.

TAXES

Sales tax on Gloa’s fees

Gloa charges GST and QST on the subscription and marketplace commission billed to your business. These taxes are itemized separately from the price of your services.

You receive a numbered invoice for the subscription and a numbered commission statement for the marketplace fee. Each document is issued once and is not revised. You remain responsible for setting and remitting the tax charged on your services. Gloa keeps service taxes separate from taxes on its fees in every document.

AN EXAMPLE

What a month costs

These examples use hypothetical appointment volumes and the rates listed above.

An independent professional
For 60 monthly appointments with existing clients, Gloa charges the salon $0. The professional retains the service price, less Stripe’s card processing fee.
A salon with a team
$29.99 CAD plus tax for the location, regardless of team size. For 300 appointments, including 12 eligible first visits introduced through the Gloa marketplace, the 20% commission applies once to each of those 12 appointments. No commission applies to the other 288.

ANSWERS

Common questions

Do I need a card to start?
No card is required for Independent. It is free during launch. Salon is paid from the first location, and the amount is disclosed before billing begins.
Is there a fee for each person on my team?
No. Salon is priced per location. Adding a team member does not change the plan price.
Is the 20% taken on every booking?
No. It applies only to the first appointment of a client introduced through the Gloa marketplace who was not already in your client records. No commission applies to that client’s later appointments.
What if a client I already had books through Gloa?
No marketplace commission applies when the client’s contact details match your imported records. Large client-list imports submitted after bookings begin may require review.
Who receives the money from a booking?
The processor routes card payments to your account. Gloa does not hold a balance on your behalf.
Do I pay Gloa when a client does not show up?
No additional Gloa fee applies. You retain a no-show or late cancellation fee under the terms accepted by the client at booking. For an eligible prepaid first visit introduced through the marketplace, the one-time commission is recalculated on the amount you retain. It decreases with that amount and is fully returned if you retain nothing.
What about card processing?
The processor’s published rate applies at cost. Gloa adds no margin, receives no share and does not pass this fee on to the client.
Do I need to buy hardware?
No. Gloa works on a phone, tablet or computer, in the browser and in the app.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Cancel at any time in your settings. Salon remains active until the end of the paid period. You may export your client records at any time.
Will the price go up?
Independent is a launch offer. You will receive at least 30 days’ notice before any change, and no charge will begin without your consent.
What happens if a payment to Gloa fails?
You are notified and can resolve the payment in your settings. During payment retries, client-facing access remains unchanged and existing appointments remain valid. If the payment remains unpaid after all retries, the location stops accepting new online bookings. Existing appointments remain valid, and you can continue adding appointments manually.
